Element Playlist #03 - Madars’ Element Mixtape
Here goes my ten:
1.Velvet Underground - Rock n Roll
I have always loved Velvet Underground, but this song, ever since I heard it in the montage of Transworld "First Love" I could never stop listening to the song and get hyped! Also I like Sweet Nothing, Femme Fatale, Ocean & Sunday Morning.
2. Paul Pena - Jet Airliner
I found out about this blind SF singer/songwriter randomly, as I watched a documentary about him going to Kazkhstan to learn and perform native Kazakh music. It was a crazy one for sure, but this song is a cover from Steve Miller Band, but the way Paul does it just makes me feel its real and makes me actually want to jump out of an airplane.
3. Mississippi John Hurt - Let the mermaids flirt with me
John Hurt is probably my favorite guitar player of all time, I have learned to play 5 of his songs myself and I'm sure I will learn some more in the future! Other songs I like - Make me a pallet on your floor, You've got to die, Nobodys' Dirty Business, You've got to walk that lonesome valley, Spike Driver Blues.
4. The Rolling Stones - dead flowersYup, love this song a lot, and actually the whole album is pretty cool. It can get gnarly sometimes, but I appreciate it anyways.
5. Bob Dylan - Moonshiner
There are too many Bob Dylan songs that I like, so I just wrote this one down. Other mentions are - One too many mornings (with Johnny Cash); Ain't no more Cane; Baby, Let me follow You down; Big yellow taxi, Don't Think twice it's alright, Gotta Serve Somebody; Jokerman; Love minus zero, Just like a woman; She Belongs to me; etc.
6. Galt McDermot - Let the sunshine in
This is a random tune that I also like, Galt has got a good playing style in my opinion.
7. Donovan - Catch the Wind
Just like Bob Dylan & Velvet Underground, also Donovan is ridiculously good, I love most of his music, but honorable mentions are: Come Together; Codeine; London Town; Riki Tiki Tavi; Wear Your love like heaven.
8. Pink Floyd - Fearless
Super good of course, and it's just a small fraction of Pink Floyd genius.
9. The Band - The Weight
Always puts me in the right mood.
10. Ray Conniff - El Condor PasaI am a huge fan of Simon & Garfunkel, so this is just an extention of that actually. When we were climbing down from Macchu Piccu in Peru, some people who were walking in front of us told me to put on "El Condor Pasa" - turns out it's a national Peruvian song.. Love music!
11. Pyramids - Frank Ocean
Yes, I know what you’re thinking. “Another Frank Ocean song, pffff…”. I know, I know. But I just can’t have enough of Frankie. This one is my favourite song of him. The same for Benjamin, one of my best friends. When we listen to it, we just feel … like we’re flying. It’s a very long song, but it’s like two songs melted in one genius volcano of pure melody. Benjamin, you got the ender of my mixtape because you are my Cleopatra haha. Enjoy, bruur, enjoy!
